ZAP
Sometimes we fool ourselves into thinking that
because we are older we are
wiser, smarter, able to protect ourselves from being hurt.
But I say it's another lie us adults tell ourselves!
I have spent a life time of not knowing my "place".
Wandering out of my lines into others yards that
APPARENTLY
I do not belong.
ZAP!
Young and naive I thought I could go anywhere;
those were other peoples boundaries
- not mine!
ZAP!
My younger self would bark from back inside my "place":
"F@$! you and that stupid fence you put me in!"
As I'd most likely run at it again!
ZAP!
Older and (still) naive, I
- with sincerest footing-
walk (admittedly often run) forward,
somehow forgetting about my electric fencing...
ZAP!
... with tail between my legs,
scolded and embarrassed,
I head back to my "place".
And now my older, wiser, smarter self
wonders if that second run
is worth the
